Why can’t I donate to Wikipedia anonymously using Bitcoin?

As a legit 501(c) charitable organization, Wikimedia Foundation cannot accept 100% anonymous donations. Even your money order would have KYC information on it (the issuer has it).

Keeping up with various laws, the government requires that all donations have KYC requirements taken care of. There is an exemption on cash, but it has its limits and varies from state to state.
