What paths can someone take to enter investment banking without experience?

Internship would be the most recommended approach. IBs get a lot of resumes, etc. You will need to fight your way in towards an Internship.

In your case, inside contacts help, everything else, really doesn't matter. Its networking that will get you in, nothing else.
