What does the term “wireless” signify in “wireless funds transfer”?

This term is used a lot in South Asia, Middle East, etc. (though now everything is "wire" based).

Wireless funds transfer relates to either Bearer Certificates or some financial (paper) instrument used to make a physical deposit at a bank branch.
