Do you need to link a credit card to Bitcoin in order to use it for payments?

Not necessarily. If your merchant accepts Bitcoins (via a wallet transfer or other mechanisms), you're good to go.

However, if your merchant is not accepting Bitcoins, you could fund a pre-paid debit card with Bitcoins (converting from Bitcoins to Fiat) and then use the debit card to make a payment as you regularly would.

Credit cards are usually attached to platforms to fund bitcoin purchases.
