Badges
Badges on askmint reward what people give to the site: answers that help, and questions worth answering. They are not based on time spent here. Time is easy to fake and tells a reader nothing about whether someone knows their subject.
The names come from minting coins, because askmint is a mint for answers.
Answerer levels
Count only published answers that have not been removed for quality.
| Level | Badge | Answers | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Blank | 1 | A blank coin, not yet stamped |
| 2 | Struck | 10 | Stamped, now a real coin |
| 3 | Circulated | 50 | Out in the world, being used |
| 4 | Proof | 150 | The high-quality coins a mint makes for collectors |
| 5 | Bullion | 500 | Valued for weight and substance |
| 6 | Sovereign | 1,500 | A classic gold coin |
| 7 | Mintmaster | 3,000+ | Runs the mint |
Asker levels
Askers have their own ladder. Only questions that received an answer count, so posting many questions does not earn a badge on its own.
| Level | Answered questions |
|---|---|
| 1 | 1 |
| 2 | 5 |
| 3 | 15 |
| 4 | 40 |
| 5 | 100 |
| 6 | 250 |
One-off badges
- First accepted answer: your answer was chosen as the best one.
- Ten topics: you have answered in ten different topics.
- Hundred upvotes: one of your answers reached 100 upvotes.
- Member for 1, 3 or 5 years: a quiet “member since” badge. Time is rewarded here, never as a level.
Founder
Held by the person who built askmint. It sits alongside their level, so it is always clear who started the site.
Rules that keep badges honest
- Only a few answers per day count toward a level. Two hundred one-line answers in a night do not make an expert.
- Badges can be taken away if the answers behind them are removed.
